Yuqi Pu Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Newbaker Funeral Home - Blairstown on Dec. 5, 2025.
beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025. She was 86 years old. Born on February 14, 1939, in Shanghai City, China, Yuqi was the daughter of Jinbao Pu and Xiunan Shen. From her earliest years, she was known for her creativity, grace, and deep devotion to her family.
Yuqi spent much of her professional life serving her community as a township manager in Qingdao City, China, where she was respected for her dedication, leadership, and kindness. Her work touched many lives, and she carried the same warmth and diligence into all areas of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Yanny Guo, and Yanny's husband Alex Davidson; her sons Xiaojun Guo, and his wife Ping Shao, and Xiaomin Guo, and his wife Lu Han. She was a proud grandmother to Sophia Liu, Gary Guo, Chuanfeng Guo. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Yijie Guo and Ruiyang Guo, the children of Chuangfen Guo and his wife, Qi Sun.
Yuqi had a lifelong love of gardening, especially flowers, which she tended with patience and joy. She was also a gifted and artistic soul, known for her talent in traditional Chinese painting. After moving later in life, she generously shared that gift with others, teaching members of the Rutgers Community Christian Church the beauty and techniques of traditional Chinese art. Her students remember her not only as a teacher but as an inspiration-gentle, thoughtful, and encouraging.
Those who knew Yuqi will remember her for her artistry, her strength, and her boundless love for her family. Her life was a canvas of compassion, creativity, and quiet wisdom, and her memory will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Her family honors her life and legacy with deep love and gratitude.
Services will start at 2 PM on Saturday December 6th at the Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Yuqi, please visit our Tree Store.
