Obituary of Yuri Pavlovich Konovalov
Yuri Pavlovich Konovalov of Greenville passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. He was 79 years old.
The son of the late Pavel Konovalov and Lyubov Zmeyava, he was born on August 23, 1945 in Oryol, Russia.
Born with an innate curiosity and a youthful heart, Yuri lived a life filled with adventure and passion. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Foreign Languages in 1970. Shortly after, he served in the Soviet army, a service that took him around the globe, including assignments in Nigeria and Palestine.
In 1984, Yuri met the love of his life, Katya, while working at the same company. They married on March 29, 1990, and shortly after, welcomed their only daughter, Kseniya. Yuri and Katya shared 41 years of devoted companionship.
Yuri began his entrepreneurial journey in 1989, establishing multiple businesses across various sectors, including internet services, consulting, and aviation, his true passion. These ventures led him to destinations such as Kazakhstan, the UAE, and Japan.
In the early 1990s, Yuri moved his family from Moscow to New York State, settling in the scenic Hudson Valley.
He was a passionate debater of politics, ideology, and philosophy, and a devoted cinephile, enjoying movies with his wife and daughter. He was always learning, surrounding himself with books and international news.
Yuri cherished his family above all else, finding joy in road trips and his wife's Russian cooking. He faced his terminal illness with unwavering strength, fighting until the end.
Yuri is survived by his wife, Ekaterina Valentinovna of Port Jervis, NY, his daughter Kseniya Konovalova with her husband, Ryan Lenz, and his sisters, Ella and Elena of Russia.
Private viewing and cremation services entrusted to Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home of Port Jervis, NY.
