Yuri Kondratieff Young, age 40, tragically died in a car accident on September 3, 2021. He was born in Blacksburg, VA, on February 12, 1981, the son of James Edwin Young II and Vera Martha Kondratieff. The family moved to Kansas and eventually settled in Ogden, UT. Yuri attended Ogden City Schools and studied construction management at Weber State University. Yuri learned construction early on in his life while working with a close family friend, Mark Benson, and went on to own a successful business, Young's Construction, as a general contractor building custom homes all along the Wasatch Front.

Yuri excelled at everything he picked up: rollerblading, skateboarding, pottery, snowboarding, auto mechanics, and carpentry. These were just a few of his many talents. Yuri especially loved to fish and spent most of his time golfing and walking his dog, Harriet, at Mount Ogden Golf Course. Yuri loved to travel, spending some of his happiest summers in Louisiana fishing with his brothers at his family's lake homes, traveling to Europe with his brother, Sveva, and friends, and camping with his family in Point Reyes, CA.

Among Yuri's many gifts was his ability to lead. He was always the natural leader in sports, work, and with his many friends. So many people considered Yuri to be their best friend. Yuri was witty and he loved to laugh; his personality is unforgettable to anyone who ever met him. His sense of humor was one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed by those who loved Yuri.

Yuri is survived by his father, Jim Young; his brothers, Sveva Young (Carlie Benson), Scott (Angel) Young, and Ben Young; aunt, Kyra (Tom) Hudson; uncle, Boris Kondratieff; nephew, Alec Young; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Kondratieff Young, and his grandparents.

Friends may visit with family on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Masks are required.

Private services will be held at a later date.
