Yvette Elaine Wigfall 61, a beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, niece, friend, vibrant soul and tireless worker, who courageously left this earth and embarked on her heavenly journey Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 12:40 am, surrounded by family in her home. She was born on January 27, 1964, in South Bend, Indiana, to Earlyne D. (Miles) Poe-Key and Detroit M. Wigfall, who preceded her in death.
Yvette remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped her.
She surrendered her heart to Christ at a young age. Yvette embodied this love through acts of kindness and being a foster parent. She loved the Lord whole heartedly and worked in various ministries throughout her life from singing in the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Youth Choir.
She was an active member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where she was involved with the Youth Ministry, Women's Ministry, Amazing Gray's, and provided free tutoring services to students.
Yvette loved learning and her academic journey was marked by excellence. She was a 1982 graduate of LaSalle High School. Yvette completed her secondary education at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN with a Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Pathology. While at Purdue, Yvette became a proud member of the Chapter Zeta Theta of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, where their line name was Mercedes.
She furthered her education with a Master's in Human Resources Management and Services from Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership, Chicago, IL, and Master of Science in Secondary Education and Teaching from Indiana University Northwest in Gary, IN.
Yvette's professional journey began as a Social Worker for the Chicago Department of Social Services. Her passion for education led her to the Gary Community School Corporation for fifteen years, followed by a tenure with Atlanta Public Schools. Ultimately, her steadfast love for family brought her back home to South Bend, In.
Her unwavering dedication to education was evident through her impactful work at Pierre Moran Middle School in Elkhart, Indiana. There, she continued to nurture young minds, collaborated with families, and inspired colleagues.
Yvette's life was a testament to her faith and family. She leaves behind cherished memories with her brother Earl (Anita) Wigfall Sr., sister Delphine Poe, four nephews Earl (Alexandria) Wigfall II, Exavier (Haley) Wigfall, Elliott Wigfall, and Camden Poe, one great nephew Jorden Wigfall (proceeded her in death) and two great nieces Brooke' Lynn Wigfall and Kyla Wigfall, special aunt Ida Wigfall, special friends Marissa Dunn, and Sherry Taylor, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends, who filled her heart with joy.

1 Corinthians 16:14, "Let all that you do be done in love," Her legacy of love, education, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 1620 S St Joseph St, South Bend, IN 46613 Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 20th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Church.

Yvette had a great infectious smile she would use as she kept it real and she will be truly missed.
I'll always remember my sister calling me "sissy" and our "back in the day talks" which caused uncontrollable laughter.
