Yvonne M. Holzknecht, affectionately known as Yvonne by those who knew her best, passed
away on July 25, 2025, in Elk Grove Village, IL, after a courageous battle with a long-term
illness. Born on February 24,1974, in Chicago, IL, Yvonne's infectious smile and warm heart brought joy to everyone she encountered throughout her 51 years of life. Yvonne's life was filled with love and laughter, thanks to her caring parents, Floyd and Cheryl. She grew up alongside her brother Todd, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond.
Preceded in death her family included her caring Grandparents Harold and Jeanne Radtke
along with many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her parents Floyd and Cheryl Holzknecht, Brother Todd Holzknecht, Aunt Nesha (Doug) Czajkowski, several cousins and a circle of dear friends who were like an extended family to her.
A proud graduate of Hoffman Estates High School in 1994, Yvonne's passion for helping others led her to a path of service. She spent many years working in various roles, where she touched on the lives of those she encountered with her kindness and dedication. Eventually, Yvonne found her true calling in volunteering at the Schaumburg Township Senior Center and food pantry, helping others with support at the AMITA Health weight loss solutions group. There, she not only contributed her time and energy but also made lasting friendships that enriched her life as much as she enriched the lives of others.
Her personal interests added joy and color to her life. From an early age Yvonne was regularly active with the NWSRA where she enjoyed bowling on a league with friends. Yvonne was a proud participant in the Special Olympics where she was a multi gold, silver, and bronze award winner in a variety of sports over the course of several years. She shared an unbridled love for animals, and her pets were her cherished companions throughout her lifetime. Most recently her beagle, Banjo, was a source of immense happiness and provided her with unconditional love and companionship. Yvonne also relished her time spent playing bingo with her mother, cherishing these moments of fun and togetherness. The mother-daughter duo often ventured on out-of-state getaways with friends, creating a tapestry of memories that Yvonne treasured deeply.
Yvonne's legacy is one of love, kindness, and friendship. She navigated life with a friendly
demeanor that drew people to her. Her ability to listen, her readiness to help, and her
unwavering support for those in need were hallmarks of her character. She will be remembered as a beacon of light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Yvonne leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of her beloved parents, Floyd and Cheryl Holzknecht, her brother Todd and the many friends and family members whose lives she touched. Yvonne's spirit will live on in the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the kind acts performed in her honor. Though she will be deeply missed, the impact of her loving, kind, and friendly soul will be felt for generations to come.
A celebration of life for Yvonne will be held at a later date yet to be announced.
