Yvonne L. Obanion, 81, passed away at 7:41 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Memorial Hospital. Born on January 5, 1944, in Detroit, MI, to Narcisse and Eleanor (Schwartznan) Langevin, Yvonne's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her capacity to love and bring joy to those around her.
Yvonne's spent many years behind the wheel as a dedicated truck driver for Central Transport, a profession that allowed her to indulge in her love for travel, meet diverse people, and explore the country she so dearly loved. Her passion for the open road was matched only by her devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren, for whom she lived.
Known for her infectious laughter and her penchant for mischief, Yvonne was the very definition of a jokester. She delighted in playing jokes on friends and family, never missing an opportunity to lighten the mood or elicit a smile. Her favorite pastime included watching episodes of "The Young and the Restless," a simple pleasure that brought her great comfort and entertainment.
Despite her tough exterior, those who knew Yvonne best understood her tender heart. She was a loving mother to her children, Sherry Miller, Tonya Smith, Tammy Mansfield, and Michael Poupard. Yvonne was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, whose legacy will continue to thrive in the generations that follow. The joy she found in her family was evident in every story shared, every holiday celebrated, and every quiet moment spent in their company.
Although Yvonne faced the sorrow of saying goodbye to many loved ones, including her parents, her beloved husband, John Obanion, her cherished daughter, Jamie Bent, her son, Joseph Dean Poupard, and her brother, John Paul Langevin, she bore these losses with grace and strength. Her resilience in the face of grief was a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
Yvonne's final years were spent surrounded by the love of her family and the companionship of her little dog, "Bandit," who was a constant source of comfort and joy. In her departure, Yvonne is now reunited with those she has missed, free from pain and the stresses of life.
As we remember Yvonne, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, adventure, and an unshakeable love for her family. The memories she created will forever be cherished and held close to the hearts of those who knew her.
Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel is entrusted with arrangements for Yvonne L. Obanion. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in Riverside Terrace 426 Lincolnway E. Mishawaka, IN 46544, honoring a woman whose spirit was as expansive as the open roads she once traveled. Yvonne's journey through life was marked by joy, resilience, and an enduring legacy of love. She will be deeply missed and eternally remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her
