God has called another sweet soul home. Yvonne Lillian Marie Walther Dupuy made her home in Natchitoches, LA since 1956. Maw-Maw, as she was known to her family, was born April 3, 1926, the fourth child of Lynn Emile Walther and Lillian Marie Barrilleaux Walther. Her family lived in Gibson, LA until they moved to Jennings, LA in 1931.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Honzell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on August 2nd at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Lynn, brothers David and Hugh and her husband, Dr. Burton P. Dupuy, Jr.
She is survived by her five children: Burton P. Dupuy, III (Debbie), Mary Lynn Dupuy Powell (Buddy), Alice Dupuy Armour (Bobby), Yvonne Patrice Dupuy Bradley (Trey) and Marc Walther Dupuy; twelve grandchildren, Paul Dupuy, Tara Hardin (Jason), Laura Danielle Armour Vance, Nathan A. Powell III, Richard Tucker Powell, Daniel Hawkins Bradley (Kathleen), Britton Lynn Bradley(Lindsey), Kristen Patrice Bradley Schluterman (Andrew), Sara Nichole Dupuy, Alyssa Marie Dupuy Cox (Colin) and David William Dupuy; numerous great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
Yvonne wasn't able to attend church in her later years but read her bible daily.
In 1947, Yvonne was invited to sing at the Louisiana Federation of Women's Club held in Thibodeaux, LA. Having just completed her Senior Recital at SLI, she sang many songs from Show Boat, foreign languages, both German, Italian, and French. She taught school in Jefferson Davis Parish, Lafourche Parish, Shelby County Tennessee and Natchitoches Parish. Yvonne was an organist for 42 years at churches all of which included St. John's Episcopal Church, Thibodeaux, LA; Trinity Episcopal Church and Church of the Resurrection in Natchitoches, LA. She sang solo in Memphis Churches and while in Memphis, TN she sang in the Oberammergau operatic performances.
Yvonne completed a Master's Degree at Northwestern State University in 1977. She taught English, music, history and Business English at Natchitoches High School and Natchitoches Central High School. She retired in 1988.
Yvonne served as President of Chapter Laurette Chi of Beta Sigma Phi International and was a charter member for many years. She was a member of the Natchitoches Historic Association serving with her three daughters as hostesses for years. She was also a member of the Homemakers Group and the Stitchers Ladies Quilting group.
Pallbearers will be Nathan A. Powell, III, Richard Tucker Powell, Daniel Hawkins Bradley, Britton Lynn Bradley, Trey Bradley, Andrew Schluterman and Bobby Dale Armour, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Burton Paul Dupuy, III and Marc Walther Dupuy.
The family would like to thank Regina, Rosetta and Donna for their years of love and caring shown to mom.
