Zachariah Sebastian Evangel

Zachariah Sebastian Evangel passed away January 18, 2026, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born November 26, 1985, in Albuquerque, son of the late Steven Edward Evangel, and Claudette Evangel. In his youth participated in Scouts starting with Cub Scouts and completing all the requirements for Eagle Scout along with 4 good friends. Zach (aka Domer) made many lifelong friends in baseball & football. He enjoyed playing tennis as well. He graduated from Valley High School in 2002. An all-American renaissance man, Zachariah worked hard and played with equal dedication. He was an adventurer and a jack of all trades. He was an avid snowboarder, loved the outdoors, camping, and fishing, especially with his father. He loved to travel, worked as chef, a gold miner, in construction, and rebuilding trucks. He embraced life's open roads, finding joy in shared laughter, new horizons, and the simple pleasures of good company. He had many friends and many enduring friendships he cultivated across years and miles. He loved his family deeply and was always there for them. Zachariah was a warm loving man with a tremendous sense of humor, and a very generous nature and the best whistle talker around. He loved people and people loved him. He was an easy friend to have, He rarely focused on himself, but instead he turned outward with genuine curiosity about people, gently pushing to forge real connections. His favorite tool was humor, often self-deprecating and always disarming. He won over strangers and strengthened lifelong bonds. He did things the way he thought they should be done. One of many examples, when he insisted on wearing a tie to school every day of kindergarten. He brought happiness to those who knew him and will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his laughter, kindness, generosity, his adventures, and for his ability to be a light cutting through a dark storm with fanfare, and laughter. Zachariah is survived by his mother, Claudette, and by his brother, Aaron Evangel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026 at the Riverside Funeral Home Albuquerque Chapel, located at 225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
