Zachary Zach William Beamer, 36, of Jacksonville, NC left this world for a more peaceful place on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was preceded by his maternal grandfather Ronald Geiger, maternal step-grandfather Ralph Palumbo, and his most beloved dog Snickers.
Zach proudly served his country for six years with the United States Marine Corp., a member of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines unit. He deployed twice to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his service. He attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged on October 30, 2013.
After his discharge, Zach settled in the Jacksonville area so that he could be close to his son Ashton Beamer, who he loved dearly and of whom he was so incredibly proud. There he was also blessed to enjoy an eight-year relationship with his best friend and fianc e, Kelly Mitchell, and to have had the honor of helping to raise her two sons Tayten and Braxton Rountree whom he loved as if they were his own.
An avid lover of nature and the outdoors, Zach had been studying at Coastal Carolina University Wilmington with the intent of attaining a biology degree and hoped to one day work in a forestry setting. Meanwhile, he enjoyed being outside with family and friends whenever possible -- fishing, learning to surf, slacklining, hiking, playing corn hole, and spending time with the family s dogs. In his life, Zach s smile lit up his whole being; his laughter came easily and his sense of humor knew no bounds.
Along with Ashton, Kelly, Tayten, and Braxton, Zach is survived by his mother and step-father, Lisa and William Cannon; his father and step-mother Kevin and Sandra Beamer; siblings Christopher and Emma Beamer; step-siblings Owen and Katelyn Henderson; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather Linda and Roy Mynes; paternal grandparents Ronald and Judy Beamer; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; many of his USMC brothers; and numerous friends who enriched his life over the years.
A memorial service for Zach will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Coastal Carolina State Veteran s Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to K9s for Warriors - https://k9sforwarriors.org/ - or to your local animal shelter.
