Zachary J. Somerville, 30, of Dubuque, IA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Friends and family may visit on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a wake service and time of sharing to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque.

Zach was born July 17, 1995, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Brian and Laura (Krier) Somerville.

Zach had a love for sports throughout his childhood. He loved playing hockey, baseball, football and wrestling, He played in an independent baseball league and played hockey for the Dubuque Stars, Dubuque Devils and played for the hockey league "The Villains" in Colorado. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 2013 and moved to Leadville Colorado in 2016. While in CO. he worked various jobs, but mostly for Action Window Cleaning and Snow Removal. He returned home to Dubuque in 2023 after his father Brian's death. He most recently worked at Jack's Chicken Palace and Pete's Thai Kitchen both in Dubuque.

Zach was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. He cherished his time with his family and friends. He enjoyed snowboarding and playing his harmonica and drawing his beautiful artwork. He enjoyed hiking and camping in the mountains.

Zach was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. He considered Colorado his "home" and made the most of his time out west. He was a caring, dependable, and devoted son. He had an indescribable bond with his brother and sister and was a great role model for younger sister Peyton. He was a faithful friend to so many, he referred to many of them as his "brothers".

He is survived by his mother, Laura Somerville of Dubuque, siblings, Austin Somerville of St. Petersburg, FL, and Peyton Somerville of Dubuque; grandmother Deb (Joseph Korzelik) Krier; Aunt Tina Krier and Uncle Brian (Jackie) Krier; cousins: Hallie, Amanda, Debbie, Isaac, and Isabel; special cousins, Maverick, and Marcello, many extended aunts, uncles, and cousins, a special friend Beretta, along with his beloved dog Chewy.

Zach is preceded in death by his father, Brian, brother, Ethan, grandparents, Jim and Linda Somerville and Joseph Krier, Jr.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

A note from Mom: Zach, I loved you before I knew you. I'm so blessed God chose me to be your mother. You will always be my precious baby boy.
