Zack Wesley "Pete" Yawn, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 2, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 2, 1944, in Jacksonville, Georgia, to the late John W. and Esther Bailey Yawn, Pete lived a life marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a love for the simple pleasures of the outdoors.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Karen Lott Yawn of Jacksonville, who was his partner in every aspect of life. Together, they raised a family that includes their children Byron Yawn (Michelle), John Yawn (Kelly) of Jacksonville, and Brittni Lowery (Rusty) of Eastman. Pete was a proud grandfather to Bryce, Bryn, Halle, Gamer, Baylee, Raelyn, and Ledge, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his brother, David Yawn (Tammy) of Jacksonville, and his sister, June Williams of Braselton, along with several nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Renee Yawn, and his sister, Pat Vaughn.
Pete proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam conflict, demonstrating a commitment to service that would define much of his life. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career with Amercord Tire, dedicating 27 years to the company. His work ethic and leadership skills later led him to a managerial role at Husqvarna, where he oversaw environmental and safety operations. His colleagues will remember him as a man who led by example, always willing to lend a hand or share a word of advice.
Pete's interests were a reflection of his love for life and the outdoors. He had a love for horses, enjoyed horse show barrel racing events and also enjoyed fishing. He loved gardening, though he preferred to oversee its care from a rocking chair, offering tips and enjoying the fruits of his family's labor.
Zack Wesley "Pete" Yawn lived a full life, guided by his values and the love of his family. His legacy will continue to flourish in the lives of those he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of love in the lives of many.
