Mr. Zackary Lane Clarkson

Zackary "Lane" Clarkson, 23, of Hopkins, SC, died Sunday, May 12, 2024. He is the eldest son of Zack "Chip" and Glenda Thomas Clarkson.
Lane is a 2023 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Construction Science and Management. He graduated from Heathwood Hall in 2019. He is employed by Langston Construction of Piedmont, SC, as an Assistant Project Manager.
Lane is an accomplished athlete. He is a three-time state champion pole vaulter, who holds the SCISA state pole vault record at 14 feet. Lane is also an avid outdoorsman, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. He is always surrounded by family, friends, and laughter.
In addition to his parents, Lane is survived by grandparents, Dr. Zack Clarkson, Deborah Lane Clarkson, Angela Glenn Stroud, and Don and Deborah Thomas. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Erin and Louis Garrett, Melinda and Michael Haverlock, Justin and April Thomas, Margie Hilton and Ashley Davis. Cousins include Clayton, Darby, Daulton, Kayla, Sadler, Chelsea, Brianna, Corbin, Jackson, and Remi.
He is preceded in death by his brother Jacob "Jake" Clarkson and grandfather, William "Bill" Stroud.
Lane's short time on earth touched so many lives and we are all better for it.
The service for Lane will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, May 18th, at North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 N. Trenholm Rd., Columbia, SC. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
The Heathwood Hall class of 2019 alumni are invited to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
