Zane Carrell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 22, 2025.
Zane Carrell, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at Cedar Park Hospital at the age of 82. Born in the heart of West Texas on January 13, 1943, Zane's life was a testament to his loving, funny, and wise nature, which endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Zane's early years were spent under the vast Texas sky, where the values of hard work and dedication were deeply instilled in him. He completed his high school education with the same tenacity he applied to every aspect of his life. Afterward, Zane embarked on a fulfilling career as a Service Technician at a large printing company, where his expertise and reliability became well-known and respected.
Parallel to his civilian career, Zane enlisted in the United States Navy and finished out his 27-year Military career as a Retired Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard. His unwavering commitment to service and his leadership skills earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. Zane's dedication to his country was as steadfast as his dedication to his family, and his legacy of service continues to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
Zane's devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his loving daughters, Ursula Henicke and her husband Duane, Deirdre Sherwood, and his son Lex Carrell II, along with his wife Shawna. Zane's role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren Colby, Amanda, Austin, Brianna, Delaney, Gage, and Travers. The family circle expanded with the arrival of great-grandchildren, with whom Zane shared his laughter and wisdom. His great-granddaughter Aviah and great-grandson Kade held a special place in his heart.
Beyond his family and career, Zane had a passion for the great outdoors. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and a keen player at the poker table. His favorite card game, "Screw Your Neighbor," was a staple at family gatherings, where his competitive spirit and sense of humor shone brightly. Zane's love for these activities was only surpassed by the joy he took in sharing them with his friends and family.
Those who knew Zane will remember him for his quick wit and the wisdom he imparted. His stories, often filled with humor and life lessons, will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to hear them. Zane's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the wise counsel he generously provided to those around him.
As we bid farewell to Zane Carrell, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with love, service, and the pursuit of happiness. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable spirit. Zane's journey through life was one of purpose and joy, and his legacy will endure through the countless lives he influenced. May he rest in peace, knowing that his was a life truly well-lived.
