Zane Joseph DeFrance was born on January 12, 1961, and passed away on August 23, 2025. He grew up in Bancroft, Michigan, and graduated from Durand High School in 1979.
Zane retired from Firestone Auto Care after a career dedicated to the automotive world. He had a lifelong passion for anything with wheels-racing dirt bikes, three- and four-wheelers, snowmobiles, jet skis, go-carts, cars, and especially motorcycles. He was a die-hard Michigan Wolverines fan and enjoyed cheering for the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars. He also loved simple joys, like taking car rides to the beach and enjoying good company.
Zane was the kind of man who always prioritized family and friends. He had a way of brightening the day, bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went. He will be remembered for his love of life, his sense of humor, and his devotion to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen Agnes DeFrance; wife, Novie (Tschappat) DeFrance; his brothers, Donald "Butch" DeFrance and William Dale DeFrance; and his sister, Joy DeFrance Garries. He leaves behind his daughters, Nicole (Stephen) Casaceli and Deidre (Gibson) Leatherwood; his grandchildren, Aria and Luca Casaceli, Saige and Stiles Leatherwood; sister, Cindy (Hank) Oxford; and special friend, Kelly Eichman-Karlavage, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
"Forever in our hearts, Zane will truly be missed by so many."
