Farhad Razi Obituary

Farhad "Fred" Razi, the founder of Razi Winery and Vineyard, passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2025. Born March 12th, 1937, in Tehran Iran, Fred was known for his compassion, generosity, and uncanny ability to truly connect with people.

Fred came to the United States for college to study Architecture at the University of Illinois. While completing his undergraduate education, he met the love of his life Kathryn, through his best friend in college Robert Heisler. After marrying, Fred and Kathy moved to London, where Fred completed his master's degree in architecture. In London, they welcomed the birth of their twin boys Bejhan and Bobak. Shortly after they journeyed to Iran, where Fred worked as an Architect and Urban Planner. The Iranian Revolution in the late 1970s forced Fred and Kathy back to the Midwest of the USA, where they welcomed their third son Ali.

In continuation of their adventures Fred and his family moved to Napa, California in 1989, as he dreamed of owning a vineyard and winery. He worked for his close friend, Cliff Simpkins, at his architectural firm which allowed Fred the opportunity to purchase the property that would eventually become his legacy. In 1995, Fred built and opened a small production vineyard and boutique winery. In the tasting room he provided an intimate and unique experience for anyone who ever had a chance to visit him.

Many may have known Fred from the wine business, while in the community he could often be seen jogging around Silverado Country Club or exercising at the gym (Synergy).

His loving personality, profound wisdom, and storytelling touched the lives of all those lucky enough to meet him. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn; sons Bejhan (Gail), Bobak (Kristen), and Ali (Kristie); and grandchildren, Kiley, Kamran, Mila, and Koen.

Per Fred's request, the family chose to forgo memorial services. In his honor, donations can be made to campsuperfly.org in Napa, CA. Farhad "Fred" Razi

I met Fred years ago at Synergy!! Later finding out he owned Razi Winery and I owned a wine tour business, we became instant friends! I can say he was on of the nicest people I have come across in my 68 years. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as we pay tribute to a wonder man!
May you rest in peace my friend!

Where do I begin. The flood of memories of Fred are endless...from chatting with him at my dad's office, listening to his stories that tugged at my heart strings, and how he interacted with my daughter as she was growing up...then as he started to have grandkids ...his stories were so enduring. He will always be a part of our extended family. He will be missed by many, but the memories that he shared with us will always be treasures. Blessings, Peace, and Love to the Razi Family.

My deepest condolences,
Claire Marie Simpkins
