June Cook Obituary

June Arlette Cook passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024 in Napa, California. June was born on June 23, 1938 in Rosholt, South Dakota, the youngest of 11 children, to a Danish Immigrant father and a Danish mother, Lars and Laura Larsen. June graduated from Rosholt High School, Rosholt, South Dakota In 1956. Soon after June's graduation she moved to Beverly Hills, California where June began her career in banking. June's brother Lloyd Larsen brought his friend Terry Cook to Beverly Hills to meet June at her work. June and Terry instantly connected which resulted in her moving to Napa, California where she furthered her banking career. June and Terry then proceeded to get married and together, they raised two children in Napa, California, Kim (John) Cook Rossi and Derek Cook. June was blessed with two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a bonus great grandchild. Jonathan Rossi and his son Koda Rossi, Gianna (Colten) Rossi Pursell and sons Carter and Bradley Pursell.

June loved her family beyond measure. June "Nunu" could be found at her grandchildren's events which included sports games and the practices. June not only attended their games but she also was heavily involved in the score keeping of those games. "Nunu" will now be watching her family in the front row seat from Heaven and cheering on her grandchildren in all future events and celebrations. June was born with the inherent ability to grow anything she desired, like her tomatoes. This inherent ability came from her parents and growing up on the farm in South Dakota.

June's love and caring for others was a true calling in her life. When June was no longer able to care for others, she continued to ask if there was anything she could do for us. June was proceeded in death by her parents Lars and Laura, Terry, Brothers Holgar (Florence) Larsen, Harvey Larsen, Alvin (Lucille) Larsen, Jerald (Joyce) Larsen, Lloyd Larsen. Sisters Alvina (Vic) Burt, Violet (Keith) Cochran, Jackie (Donald) vanMill, Verna (James) Owen and very dear friend Marilyn Rambo. Left to morn June's passing are children Kim (John) and Derek, grandchildren Jonathan and Gianna (Colten), great grandchildren Koda, Carter and Bradley, and many nieces and nephews.

June was such a sweet lady. While we only had a few years of being her neighbor, our son loved to stop and talk to her on his walks. We will miss our visits, but happy to have known her. Sending our love to the family.

I remember my Aunt June fondly. It´s been many years, but I´m happily reconnected to my Cousin Kim and I´m sure that would make her very happy. May you rest in peace with our Lord and the rest of your family.

I'm having such a hard time right now as to where to begin this note. So I'll just say "To Everyone" I hope you know that even though I married into this family (via Tim Owen) I was always loved and accepted as one of your own. Aunt June & Uncle Terry was one of my favorites. I loved loved loved the Friday night card games at Jim & Vernas. I couldn't believe they could go all night long. And if you sat in the livingroom and just listened, it was pure joy to hear them laugh and talk and sometimes even get loud . To me that along with all the family dinners and get togethers was the picture perfect family. June had such a special relationship with every person she knew. I loved hearing her stories from work. I admired her being a "professional " business woman when it still wasn't poplar to be. She forged a future for the next generation of girls to follow in her footsteps. It's a strange thing with these Danish families, even after divorce, you're still a family. I have learned first hand from her example how to continue to care and support for an "ex". Kim, Derek, your mom lives on in each of you. You will always be her heart. And she'll always walk beside you both. Much love, Lynda Owen

Nunu was a gem and so many of us felt her love.
These words are beautiful.
God Speed June, my heart is heavy, but I know you're pain free.
Much love to the Cook/Rossi Family
