Karen Saverien Noggle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 16, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born in Los Angeles, California, to Dorothy and Henry Saverien. Karen spent her early years in Los Angeles until her family moved to Anaheim, where she completed her schooling.
Following high school, Karen attended Fullerton Junior College, pursuing studies to become a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA). For over 35 years, she worked as an RDA and office manager at several dental practices, where she was known for her dedication and care. Later in her career, Karen worked in patient financial services at St. Helena Hospital in St. Helena, CA, assisting patients with compassion through challenging times.
Karen met her husband, William Michael "Mike" Noggle, shortly after he was discharged from the Army in 1968. They married in June of 1970 and moved to San Luis Obispo in 1972, where Mike attended Cal Poly. During this time, they welcomed their first child, Chloe. After Mike's studies, the family moved to Karen's cherished family cabin at Summer Home Park along the Russian River, where Karen, her siblings, and later her children made countless happy memories. She continued her career as an RDA while Mike explored various business ventures.
In 1979, while on the way to the hospital to deliver their first son, Travis, Karen and Mike survived a serious car accident. Following a long recovery, they moved to Sacramento, where Mike began his career with PG&E, and their second son, Zachary, was born. They eventually settled in Napa in 1987, where Karen resumed her dental career. Her dental career and her work at St. Helena Hospital, where she spent 14 years before retiring, fostered many of her most treasured friendships.
In 2001, Karen and Mike moved to Lake County, CA, where they established a small artisan vineyard and winery, pursuing their shared passion for winemaking.
Karen's name, derived from her father's affectionate letters to her mother during World War II, reflected her character-caring, kind, and socially thoughtful. She was a loving and gentle soul, devoted to her family and friends, and an inspiration with her tenacity and cheerful spirit. Karen adored music, especially Christmas carols and classic rock, with favorites like The Beatles and Bob Seger. An avid gardener, her love for plants began as a child and blossomed throughout her life. She also had a keen interest in antiques, particularly American Primitives, a passion inherited from her mother and grandmother, both antique dealers.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dorothy Saverien. She is survived by her husband, Mike Noggle; her children, Kimberli Pacheco, Chloe (Will) Vanessa Noggle Brainard, Travis Noggle, and Zachary Noggle; grandchildren Ariella (Jack) Stanback Phippen, Peiyton Hilliard, Henry Brainard, and Logan Brainard; her siblings, Gary (Carole) Saverien, Dorothy Saverien, and Jeanne Saverien; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Karen was laid to rest at a private family ceremony at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA, on October 25, 2024.
A celebration of her life will be held on January 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Center in Yountville, CA, where friends and family are invited to gather and honor her memory.
