David Joseph Silagi, 1958-2021

It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that we share with you the passing of our beloved David Joseph Silagi, a man who loved life and treated all he met with generosity and kindness. The world will be a little less joyful without his glowing presence and sweet smiling face. Dave was born in Aurora, IL and lived in Montgomery, IL during his childhood. In four years, received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Aurora College and Master of Accounting Science degree at NIU (Dekalb). He worked for Ernst and Whinney, then Crowe, LLC where he worked 33 years until retirement in August 2020. He then established his own business, Blackbelt Consulting. He got great pleasure from his work and from the relationships that he developed throughout his career. Dave always said that the best days of his life were the day he married his wife Sheryl and days each of his children were born. Dave met Sheryl in college, and they were married in 1981 at Faith United Methodist Church in Downers Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Janina Silagi of Montgomery, IL. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheryl, their children, David, Peter, Zachary and Hanna, and his brother, Edward (Katherine). He is also survived by Ronald and Jacqueline Carlson (parents-in-law), Darren Carlson (brother-in-law), and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family requests that memorials in Dave's memory be sent to Special Olympics of Illinois. Visitation: Monday, September 20, 2021 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. Funeral service: Tuesday, September 21st 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Wheatland Township Cemetery, Naperville, IL.
