Erwin Ruppenthal Obituary

Erwin Ruppenthal Erwin Ruppenthal, "Erv", 51, a resident of Naperville, IL. At peace July 19, 2010 at his home. He was born September 25, 1958 in Traunreut, Germany. Erv is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Heidi (nee Eiler); his beloved sons, Alex and Kurt Ruppenthal; his cherished parents, Johann and Loni Ruppenthal of Germany; his devoted brother and sister, Gerhard Ruppenthal and Brigitte Ruppenthal, both of Germany; his only uncle Adam (Elisabeth) Ruppenthal; his dear mother-in-law, Lilly (Konrad) Wessel; his caring brother-in-law Howie (Susan) Eiler; his beloved nieces Barry Eiler and Lisa (Mike) Sayerstad and nephews Brett and Eric Eiler; and his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Otto (Joanne) Eiler; his nephew Ricky Eiler; and his sister-in-law Susan (Howie) Eiler. After leaving his family and breathtaking home near the Bavarian Alps in 1985, he was taken in by his wife's family before starting his own. He hung on to his roots. On weekends, he listened to German soccer games and music on the internet. He enjoyed his favorite Bavarian beer and dishes. Yet he adopted a number of customs in his new home and embraced them as much as any born-and-raised American. He spent most spring and summer weekends watching youth baseball. During the fall, he spent every Friday night watching the Naperville Central football team from his green seat cushion. For almost 10 years, he never missed a game, home or away. He was a man of routine, but no routine man. He was ingenuous, always thorough, deliberate and, most of all, loving. He was a proud father and showed it not with his words, but his approving closed-mouth smile and glowing eyes. He was truly his wife's soul mate. Family and friends will gather on Friday, July 23, at St Elizabeth Seton Parish, 87th and Lisson Rd, Naperville for a Memorial Mass beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Erv's name may be directed to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018 or www.abta.org. Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home 44 S. Our sincere condolences for your loss, Heidi, and are sorry we were unable to attend Erv's memorial mass. It was just a week or two ago I mentioned to John you and Erv were often on my mind and I wanted to get a note off to you. I so regret that my busy schedule prevented it but do know you both have been in our thoughts and prayers. Deb and John Roetter
