John Roose Obituary

John L. "Jack" Roose, age 81, a resident of Montgomery, IL since 2004, formerly of Naperville, IL 1975-2004, died suddenly Friday, May 1, 2009 at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood, IL. He was born December 18, 1927 in South Bend, IN. Jack is survived by his wife, Wilma M. (nee Brown) Roose of Montgomery, IL, whom he married August 23, 1953; three children, Judy Pangman of Montgomery, Robert "Bob" (Nancy) Roose of Johns Creek, GA and Richard "Rick" (Karen) Roose of Aurora, IL; ten grandchildren, Kristin (Martin), Brandon (Jenny), Erin, Nicole (Ron), Jonathan (Lauren), Renee, Ryan, Courtney (fiancé, Brad), Carl and Adam; eight great-grandchildren, Tanner, Kailey, Makenzie, Mya, Christopher, Ian, Ethan and Ronald; a sister, Joan (Tom) Wojahn of Rockford, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, E. Victor and Ruth (nee Cannon) Roose; and five siblings, Ellen Roose, Barb Lindquist, Nancy (Robert) Banfield, Robert (Helen) Roose and Daniel (the late Bev) Roose. Jack graduated from East High School in Rockford, IL in 1946, attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He worked for Montgomery Ward for 30 years, retiring in 1982 as Regional Inventory Manager and also owned and operated a Service Master franchise in Naperville for 20 years. Jack was a longtime, active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Naperville and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation Monday, May 4, 4:00-8:00 P.M., at Friedrich-Jones. Additional Visitation Tuesday, May 5, 9:00-10:30 A.M., at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 South Washington Street, Naperville, IL 60540. Funeral Services will follow at 10:30 A.M., in the church. A luncheon reception will follow at the church. Interment: Private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
