Stephen "Steve" Rex Smith, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Beloved husband of 34 years to Betty Rae Smith (nee Gray), loving father of Drew and Davis Smith, devoted son of the late James and Nancy Smith (nee Weidenhamer), dear brother of Burt (Janet) Smith of Rochester, NY and Mark (Laura) Smith of Valrico, FL. Steve was born March 8, 1959, in Euclid, OH. He grew up in Rochester, NY and has been a Naperville resident since 2001. He was a graduate of Grove City College in Grove City, PA class of 1981 with a BS in Industrial Engineering and he received his MBA from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. After living in Greensboro, NC and Singapore, Steve relocated to Naperville, IL as Vice President of Marketing for Cabot Microelectronics. After working there for 14 years, Steve turned his attention to working and advocating for mission-oriented nonprofits.
