William Maxwell Obituary

William J. "Bill" Maxwell, age 75, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1981, formerly of Columbus, OH and Grandville, MI, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Brighton Gardens of Wheaton, IL. He was born on December 10, 1946, in Columbus, OH.

Beloved husband of Susan M. Maxwell, whom he married March 18, 1972, loving father of J.J. (Cynthia) Maxwell of Surprise, AZ, Matt (Jaime) Maxwell of Edmond OK, and Michael Maxwell of Yorkville, IL, adored grandfather of Anita; Caden and Jackie; Kailyn, devoted son of the late John and Ruth Maxwell, dear brother of Jill (Alan) Greer of Uhrichsville, OH, Jack (Betsy) Maxwell of Livonia, MI and the late Julie (Rich) Helenthal, fond brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.

Bll grew up in Columbus, attended Immaculate Conception School and Bishop Watterson High School (Class of 1964). He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969, stationed in Korea, and later earned a degree in Accounting from Ohio State University in Columbus. During his work career, Bill was employed with Firestone, Sears, Roebuck and Co., Mitsui & Co. Machine Tech Ltd. and retired from Nicor Gas in Naperville.

Bill was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and Naperville Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873. He enjoyed golfing, watching NCAA March Madness every year and was an enthusiastic fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2022, 3:00-6:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.

A celebration of life service will follow Tuesday, 6:00 PM in the funeral home.

Interment will be private.

I had the privilege of taking care Bill at Brighton Gardens of Wheaton. We bonded over being Ohio State Buckeyes fans . He was such a wonderful man . He will be miss by all who knew and loved him . My condolences to Susan and family.
