Naples, FL

Darnell Grinolds, 66, passed away in Naples, FL on November 15, 2012 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Darnell was a 1964 graduate of Albert Lea High School and the Minneapolis School of Art. He was very active in the Naples area as a Living Historian, and with the Collier County Museum. He was also a former Boy Scout and Gulf Coast Little League leader and a member of the Optimist Club. He participated in many rendezvous and Native-American re-enactments. Thank you Darnell for all the great meals you cooked at numerous rendezvous and your skill at teacher so many the ways of our ancestors.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Joshua and Zachariah; sister, Janet (Dennis) Brekke; father-in-law, Newton Lowe; brother-in-law, Jeff (Darlene) Lowe; as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Marvelyn Grinolds; and mother-in-law, Vera Lowe.
There is no service or memorial planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Avow Hospice.

I worked with Darnell at Sunmaster in the mid 90's. It's now Feb. 2, 2025 and I had a dream about him last night. Hadn't thought of him in years. He was a good man and he was my friend. Rest in peace.

Darnell was a very special addition to our cancer support group at Cancer Alliance of Naples. He was always courageous, upbeat, encouraging, and friendly. He had a great "dry" sense of humor. We were privileged to have known him and will miss him on Wednesday afternoons. Linda, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Stop by and visit us on a Wednesday at 2:00.
