Joan K. (Helm) Hug Naples, FL
Joan K. Hug, 79, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 25, 2010 with her family by her side.
She was born in St. Louis, MO on August 11, 1931, and grew up in St. Louis and Kansas City, MO where she graduated from Northeastern High School in 1948.
After moving to Florida, she lived in North Miami for many years before relocating to Naples in 1971. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she worked as the secretary for many years before retiring. In her free time she was an avid classic movie buff and a great trove of knowledge on all things Old Hollywood. She was a kind, compassionate woman, with a large heart and a special concern for animal welfare and rescue efforts.
Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Fred Hug; her daughter, Jennifer Hug of Naples; as well as a nephew; two nieces; several grandnieces and nephews; one great-grandnephew; and dear friends across the country.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Anna (Becherer-Schultz) Helm; and her brother, Kermit Helm, Jr.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 860 Banyan Drive, Naples, FL, 34102. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
