Naples, FL
Michael L. Monahan, 67, of Naples died peacefully surrounded by family on February 7, 2015. Michael was married to the love of his life for 49 years, Donna ( Shovah). He was the father of four children and eleven grandchildren, who he loved dearly.
Michael was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving the U.S. Army courageously and was a member of VFW Post 7369. After serving the Army, he joined the family business and retired as President of Monahan & Loughlin after 41 dedicated years. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Elks and a member of Naples Heritage Golf League. Michael created a group called The Cancer Biters providing fellowship and support to members of the Celebration Community Beach Church in Naples. He always lived his life to the fullest always with a giving heart. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and good conversations. What Michael loved the most was being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; children,, Brian (Bridget) of Plattsburgh, NY, David (Marika) of Cazenovia, NY, Michelle (Jason) Santor of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Stephen (Megan) of Peru, NY; eleven grandchildren, Lanai, Tyler, Riley, Emma, Keegan, Griffin, Shea, Caverly, Chloe, Torin, and Ella. He is also survived by his loving mother, Marie Monahan and was preceded in death by his father, Richard Monahan. He is survived by his siblings, Patrick (Joan), Kathleen (Kurt) Hallenback, Karen McLaughlin, Joanne (Jeff) Davidson; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Fuller Funeral Home, 4735 Tamiami Trail East where a celebration of Michael's life will begin at 5:0 0p.m.
Donations in Michael's memory may be made to Celebration Community Beach Church in Naples, or Avow Hospice (with special thanks to Deborah Hopkins and Joe Bolduc) or Be-Like-Brit at belikebrit.org.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the entire Monahan family for their loss of a fine husband, son, friend and man. I have always considered the Monahan family to be the ideal American family since I first met Mike's mom Marie and dad Richard in 1956. Richard was instrumental in teaching me the work ethic and ambition that served me well in my own profession and Mike and Pat are carbon copies of their dad as well. Richard, Uncle Chubby and all the many Monahan siblings provided Mike and Pat with the best of examples of harmonious family life, laughter, loyalty and interaction. I thank Mike for his service as a brother warrior, I wish healing for Donna and his extended family, and will have 2 Manhattans tonight in memory of Mike and Richard. My thoughts and prayers are with all Monahans and spouses. Bless you.

From what I knew of Mike he was a very nice man.. I do know he was very good to his employees as I met him through my father Randy whom worked for him in Plattsburgh Ny.. I am sorry for everyones loss, My thoughts are with the entire Monahan Family...
