Stephen Corvaia Obituary

Stephen Corvaia, Sr.

Naples, FL

Stephen Corvaia, Sr. passed away on May 15, 2017 at Naples, Fl. Stephen was born on September 8, 1928 at Reading, PA to an immigrant Italian-Catholic family. Steve was the youngest of ten children and who could have imagined the remarkable life that he would live! He was blessed with a loving mother and family, but as were the times, they were poor and he unfortunately lost his father before he was born. However, Steve was the epitome of the American dream and started to live out his dream at an early age. Wanting something more for himself and his family, he dropped out of school to play saxophone with the Stan Kenton band and travelled the country as a young teen boy finding his fortune (we can't share those stories!). Then he decided that he wanted even more from life and moved to St. Louis to start his own business while still struggling with a young growing family of four and, of course, he was a success at all of it. Steve's entire life has been a series of challenges, hard work and success. We hope we showed him how proud we all were of him and of the legacy he left.

He loved his family very much and was a constant source of encouragement and love for all. He defended and supported his family and will always be loved and cherished by his son and namesake, Stephen T. Corvaia, Jr. (Ted) as well as by his loving wife of nineteen years, Michele Corvaia (Garrison). He will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Joseph Corvaia and Kimberly Henson, as well as by his daughter-in-law Angela Corvaia and his youngest (deceased) son, Philip Corvaia. Everyone in his large family is just as heartbroken and includes his older brother, Dominic Corvaia and his wife Ruth. His entire family loved him dearly and we cannot name all his dear nieces, nephews, cousins and others that were so much a part of his life. He loved them all and always tried to make them realize how special they were to him.

All his friends here in Naples as well as St. Louis were also very important to him. He leaves behind too many loved ones to mention and there are no words to account for the hole he left in all of our lives. He was admired by many and loved by all and somehow not only survived but succeeded with all the ups and downs of his 88 year life. But what a life! Steve definitely did it all and had it all and he will be greatly missed. We all love you Steve.

Steve's memorial Mass is scheduled to be held on June 17th, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Naples, 475 9th Ave S, Naples, FL 34102.

To Michelle and Ted and family.... My deepest sympathy to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.....
I have some very good memories of Uncle Steve when we (Lew, Chris and my Mom and Dad), would visit him in IN and MO. He would take us on sight seeing trips , and sometimes he would take us out to dinner, and once in awhile my Mom would make dinner. He was very caring when my mother was sick.
Love, Anne Marie
