Ed made newspapering fun. In the years I worked for him as a reporter years ago, he always encouraged me to do my best. With him, I learned to face and stand up to controversy and adversaries, to fight when needed, and he taught me how to write. All these skills helped me later as a union president and in my long career as an auditor. Sorry hes gone. Thank you Ed.

Amy, what can I say? I always enjoyed spending time with your dad when we were younger. I remember him taking my engagement announcement for the paper, and turning into a masterpiece! I know you spent a lot of time with him these last years. Bless you. Love, Karen

Ed has and will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first editor to hire me with no experience and no college degree. He was encouraging, a gentleman and best of all, let a reporter learn by doing, and finding his or her own voice, then molding HIS edits to that Persons instead of the other way around. Just a deeply caring, thoroughly decent man. We reconnected a few years ago and was so happy to hear that soft, even voice again - one of reassurance and confidence. I couldnt have asked for a better editor to start my journalism career and will forever grateful. God speed Ed Heaven just got a little brighter. Love, Anne

So sorry to learn of Eds passing. What a gentlemen...He was Mr. New Canaan ..he loved the town and the people loved him. Many times he would give speeches and lectures about the history of New Canaan and recall the traditions he witnessed as a young man. His columns in the New Canaan Advertiser were priceless . Thanks for everything Ed....you are one person who can't be replaced.

I am so sorry for your loss I met your dad in a bereavement group at Norwalk Hospital. He quickly became one of my favorites. He also became friends with my dad who was also in the group. He was a wonderful man your dad and I will miss the cards and notes that we used to send back and forth. Love, Cindy Christiano
