Lee Bouton Obituary

Lee Bouton
Lee Hallam Cantrell Bouton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, with her loving husband, Robert, by her side. Lee was born in Norwalk, CT in 1946 and graduated from New Canaan High School in 1964. She began working at the New Canaan Savings Bank before relocating to Ft. Benning, GA, while her husband served for the U.S. Army. After returning to New Canaan in 1973, Lee began enriching the many lives of children and families as a teacher at the United Methodist Church in New Canaan. In addition to her career teaching, Lee was an active member and volunteer with St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where her husband, Robert, continues his involvement with the Church's Gospel Garden. Lee was predeceased by her parents, retired New Canaan Police Lieutenant, Kelvin F. Cantrell and Esther Raymond Cantrell of New Canaan, and her sister, Carol C. Naylor of Trumbull. Lee is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert, daughter, Carrie and her husband Marc, and her adoring grandson, Nicholas. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Gospel Garden in care of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan. My family moved to New Canaan in 1955 when I was 9 years old. We lived about 3 houses up the hill from the Cantrell's and Lee's mother would drive use to school every day, pick us up at lunchtime, take us back and be there to get us when school was out. We were best friends and played after school every day. We stayed in touch all these years up until about 4 years ago. I miss her terribly since she was part of the best time of my life. Her mom, dad and Carol were all part of my life too. They will be held in my prayers as will Lee's husband, daughter and grandson. Fly high my friend, you are all loved deeply.

Oh, I'm shocked and saddened to learn of Lee"s passing.
A true sweet heart to me and I believe everyone graced to be in her company. We worked together at the United Methodist Church Nursery School. Her delightful smile, kindness, and gentleness will be missed so much. Love to Bob and Carrie, Debra Stoltze

Lee and I met when we were 12 years old. She quickly became my very best friend. I spend more time at her house than my own. We had the best times together and shared so many memories. We remained best friends for 65 years even though we lived miles apart. The distance did not break our bond.

To lose a best friend is to lose a piece of your soul, but my loss was Lee's gain. Lee lost her pain and now is in peace.
Lee, you were the best friend a girl could ask for, and I was lucky to have you by my side. I am so very grateful God gave me you!
Fly high in Heaven, dear friend!
