Karyn Davis-Rutter Obituary

Karyn Gerard Davis-Rutter, 45 of Nevada died on Saturday, March 7 at her Nevada home. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, March 11 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, of which she was a member, with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial followed the luncheon at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Karyn was born on January 4, 1964 in Ames to Robert Emmett and Phyllis Joyce (Dolmage) Sullivan. She attended St. Cecilia Catholic School and graduated in 1982 from Ames Senior High School. Karyn earned a degree from DMACC in court reporting. On June 24, 2006, she married Richard Charles Rutter, Sr. at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Karyn was employed in the District Court of Story County office. She loved being with her children, animals, and flower gardening.
Karyn is survived by her husband, Richard "Rick" Rutter, Sr. of Nevada; her children, Trevor Alan Davis and Tarah Victoria Davis, both at home; her parents, Bob and Joyce Sullivan of Ames; 3 brothers, Terry (Robin) Sullivan, Dan (Julia) Sullivan, all of Ames, and Tom (Janelle) Sullivan of Gilbert, AZ; a sister, Sue (Gary) Handsaker of rural Nevada; 3 step children, Ryan Rutter of Ames, Aaron (Chelsea) Rutter of Madrid, and Ricky Rutter, Jr. of Des Moines; and 2 step grandchildren, Adena and Kameryn Rutter.
Karyn was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia L. Sullivan.
The family received friends on Tuesday, March 10, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada, and a Vigil Service was held.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for her children's college education at First Federal Savings Bank, 404 Lincoln Highway in Nevada.
