Joanne Bonifanti Silbermann, a longtime resident of Lorton, Va., passed away peacefully with her husband, children, and sister by her side on Thursday March 10, 2022, at the age of 55 from colon cancer.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1966, in Scranton to Grace Luciani and Joseph Bonifanti.
Joanne is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, James Silbermann; and her cherished children: Matthew and Katie. Joanne is also survived by her sister, Maria Paone, and her parents.
Joanne attended Bucknell University obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1989. Joanne worked her entire career as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. A dedicated wife, mother and volunteer - she touched so many lives.
Some of her greatest loves were spending time with her husband, children, friends, and her beloved cats. She loved music, especially getting out to see live concerts - 'of which she attended many. As a mechanical engineer she had a special connection to cars and loved to drive. She was a great baker and also took pride in her garden, growing everything from tomatoes and zucchini (for the flowers) to the accidental watermelon. Her fall Sundays wouldn't be complete without seeing her Steelers play on television. She also found peace in quieter activities like doing the crossword puzzle or reading books on a wide variety of topics. She will be deeply missed, but her presence will remain with us all.
