Alice Donnelly Obituary

Alice J. Donnelly

- - Alice J. Donnelly was called home to the Great Shepherd on Friday, March 16, 2018, after an eight year battle with cancer. Born May 29, 1949, in Newark, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Alice Ridella. She was a shining light to all who knew her. She met the love of her life, Eugene H. Donnelly Jr., in 1968 at the University of Dayton. They married on July 28, 1973. Never one to back down from a battle, she lived a great life on her terms with no regrets. While blessed with two children of her own, Natalie (Clive) Chan and Eugene (Jenifer) Donnelly III, she became a mother to hundreds of kids whether they needed a ride home from school, a warm meal, or some pep to prepare for the big game. She never missed the opportunity to lend help to anyone in need. She will always be remembered for her traditional Eastern European cooking, unwavering determination, and loving smile. She was an avid golfer and bird watcher. She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Donnelly Jr.; and children, Natalie (Clive) Chan, and Eugene (Jenifer) Donnelly III. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Cora and Evan Chan, and "Henry" Donnelly IV. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Ridella; and brothers, John and Howard Ridella. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. To sign the online guestbook, visit www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of Alice, my name is Moinea Lopez, I was a floater at Rainbow Child Care, and I helped in Henry's class quite often. Alice loved Henry so much, I enjoyed talking to her so much. She loved her family and always talked about all her grandchildren. I will always think of her when I go to a garage sale, and think of her when I get Christmas decorations out at Christmas, she told me about her collection. May God give you all the strength and comfort and peace of knowing She is with HIM now, no more cancer, pain free.
