Damian Simon Obituary
MOUNT VERNON: In loving memory of a wonderful husband and father, Damian Marquis Simon, 49 died on Monday, August 8, 2011.
He was born on September 24, 1961 in Columbus and graduated from Northridge High School/Licking County JVS in 1980. He was employed with Knox County Highway Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, George M. Simon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Simon of 25 years; and his wonderful and devoted son, Michael Damian Simon; his mother, Patricia A. Simon; a brother, Joe (Diane) Simon; sisters, Stephanie (Ron) Luellen, Alison (John) Holmes, Maurya (Herb) Veach, and Andrea Simon; brother and sisters-in-law include Ken and Rena Hughes of Newark, Jesse and Deb Salyer of Homer, Victor and Rita Ray of Johnstown; and many nieces and nephews.
Damian was an expert heavy equipment operator; he enjoyed golfing, riding dirt bikes and spending time with his family. Actively involved in his church, the Apostolic Christian Church in Mount Vernon, he was passionate in his work for the Kingdom of God. He had a special love for his mother-in-law, Ettafae Salyer.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1635 Old Delaware Road, Mount Vernon with Pastor Duane Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Johnstown. Private expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church.
The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Damian Marquis Simon.

My uncle Dami was a wonderful man who was a pleasure to be around and we will miss him so very much. He did so much and was always appreiciated. I'm not sure how our family will recover from this, and our family gatherings will NEVER be the same. I know he is in Heaven with our Father and the Son, and there is no better place to be. We love you Dami and miss you more than words can say!!!

We were so very shocked and saddend by the tragic events that took the life of Damian. We have so many fond memories from childhood of our families sharing some good times together with family at reunions. We know he will be dearly missed. The Families of Debbie (Eal) Groves and Bob Eal

Very tragic situation, I had a lot of fun running around with Damion & Chip Coffey back in the late 70's & early 80's, prayers to the family in this tragic loss.
