Charles Shustrick Obituary

NEW BERN - The Rev. Charles Paul Shustrick, 64, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at his home.

Prior to moving to North Carolina in 1999, he spent 35 years in forensic pathology as a histotechnologist and crime scene investigator for the coroner's office in Cambria County, Pa. At the time of his death, he was a member and retired pastor of the New Bern Church of God.

Funeral will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the New Bern Church of God with David Salmons, pastor, and the Rev. Dewayne Moree officiating. Burial will be Monday at the New Bern Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Candace C. Shustrick of New Bern; three daughters, Celeste E. Dunlap of Kentucky, Gretchen J. Platt of Portland, Ore., and Marron C. Cox of New York, N.Y.; two sisters, Charlotte Ruparcic of Johnstown, Pa., and Pauline Kring of Johnstown, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church on Sunday evening.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the MERCI Clinic, 1315 Tatum Drive, New Bern, NC 28560.
