David had a long career in the Air Force, having served from 1951 to 1979. He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star. David retired as a Major and had logged over 10,000 hours flying during his 28 years in the Air Force. He loved fishing and spent summers with friends and family fishing throughout Alaska. David and his wife Betty also enjoyed traveling in their motor home visiting friends and could always be found playing cards and having a great time.
David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Averill, and seven daughters, five sons, 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. February 11, 2011 in Sarasota National Cemetery, 9l810 State Road 72. A celebration of his life will be held afterwards for family and friends.
