Earl Cleland Obituary
COVE CITY | Earl M. Cleland, Jr., 58, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home.
He worked at Weyerhaeuser for 38 years as heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Penny McCoy Cleland; one daughter, Dana Feller and husband, Brandon of Cove City; his mother, Shirley Wood Cleland of New Bern; two brothers, Troy Cleland and wife, Michele and Jeff Cleland and wife, Maribel of New Bern; and his granddaughter, Madison Mallard. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl M. Cleland Sr. in March.
Funeral will be held Wednesday at Pollock-Best Funeral Home at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Greenleaf Memorial Park with Pastor Neal Cox and Pastor Steve Grissom officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the many cards, texts and calls that were received. Our hearts were also blessed and our faith renewed by the out-pouring of love and prayer from neighboring churches. We want to send a special thank you for the love and support the family received from his caregiver, lovingly known as Ms. Tee, and to Community Home Care and Hospice and our nurse and friend Cathy Dawson. There are so many others that we can't name, but please know your love and support has been greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in his memory to Wintergreen Original Free Will Baptist Church, who so openly and without question reached out to us in our time of need and made us part of their church family.
