A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Brooks Funeral Home, Morehead City, with the pastor of First Baptist Church of New Bern, Rev. Dr. Steven Fitzgerald, officiating.
Mr. Parker was born on February 1, 1955, in New Bern. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giles Carl and Lucille Rowe Parker. He is survived by his wife, Jamison Garrish Parker; daughter, Katherine P. Troxell and husband, Steven, of Mukwonago, Wis.; son, Gregory Carl Parker Jr. of Wilmington; stepchildren, Alexis of Wilmington and Jordan of Charlotte; sister, Susan Parker Lee and husband, Del, of Arapahoe.
He owned and operated Parker's Town 'N Country in New Bern, a family business since 1961. Mr. Parker attended Oak Ridge Military Academy and returned to New Bern to graduate from New Bern High School. He was an avid surfer and was sponsored by Atlantic Beach Surf Shop in local competitions. He grew up on the Trent River where he learned to trout fish with his Dad. He enjoyed spending his weekends arrowhead hunting in fields and along the river shore with his children. He and his wife had a passion for traveling. In their downtime, they watched movies and memorized every episode of Bonanza.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 1423-A S. Glenburnie Road, New Bern, NC 28560.
