Raymond J. Bradley was born in Garden Plain, Kansas on April 3, 1929. His parents Francis Sydney Bradley and Hazel Cornelia, nee Loomis had 14 children and relocated to Wichita, Kansas. He was an athletic young man and left school early to do construction work with his older brother's business. During the final years of WWII, Ray enlisted in the Merchant Marines and served in the Atlantic. After the war, he served three years in the U.S. Army, including a tour in the Aleutian Islands. When he completed his enlistment, Ray attended Friends University where he played football and studied math and physical education. When he became a young father, Ray left school to begin building his long career in engineering and management in the aerospace industry. It was during one of the relocations prompted by that work in which he met Patricia in Irving, TX in 1964. That meeting led to a marriage which would have celebrated 50 years on April 18, 2014.
Ray and Pat spent the last 11 years in New Bern, NC, building relationships and loving on their family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (Papaw), and friend. He loved to study God's Word and was active in his church. Ray could fix anything. He loved others and was often found using his engineering skills to help those in need on household repairs and construction projects. He had an undying sense of humor and a great laugh. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends as we celebrate his life, so rich and full of love.

I remember Uncle Ray's most serious face and yet when he laughed, he could light up the whole room with joy. I remember when he had a conversation with you, it mattered -- he cared and gave you his time and attention. I remember his strong conviction and faith and gentle thoughtfulness. This world will miss him so very much. To Aunt Pat and all my cousins and their families, I am so very sorry for your loss -- we send our love and our prayers and wonderful memories of a wonderful man; and we send you thoughts of peace and courage during this most difficult time.

To my David, I love you and I am so sad that your family (and my future family) has experienced this incredible loss. I'm also so sorry that I didn't get to meet your dad. But I will meet him one day in our heavenly home. My prayer is for God to wrap you and your family in his loving arms to give you peace and comfort knowing that Ray is with Him. Offering prayers for your mom as she continues her earthly journey without him. Please remind her that God still has work for her to accomplish here. Give Chris, Eddie, Jay and your mom a hug for me and tell them I look forward to seeing them next month.
Yours,
Joy
