ST. GEORGE — Candida Mae "Candy" Card, 51, formerly of St. George, passed away July 23, 2025, in Columbia, SC.
Candy is survived by her parents, Dennis and Sue Card of St. George and Nina Fairey of Prosperity, SC. Her extended family are her sisters Luanne Durden Blanton (Gary) of Inman, SC and Lisa Durden Gerenser (Bob) of Roanoke, VA. Dawn Borchers (BJ) Sioux City, IA, stepbrother Benjamin "Ben" Dukes (Sherry) of St. George and her son Christian Carter of Irmo and many nieces and nephews.
Candy was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, St. Clair and Clara Lou Fairey of St. George and paternal grandparents Albert and Charlotte Card of Jefferson, South Dakota.
Candy was an honor graduate class of 1992 Dorchester Academy where she excelled in sports and was a vital member of the girls' softball and basketball varsity teams.
She attended Francis Marion University and later moved to the Midlands of South Carolina where she pursued many of her varied interests, including working for S.C.E&G as a meter reader. She was a talented cake decorator and established a landscaping business.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that Candy's friends remember her beautiful smile, her caring soul and adventurous nature and her willingness to help animals and people in need.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
