Mieczyslaw Kopowski Obituary
Mieczyslaw Kopowski, 96, of New Britain, husband of Agnes (Lukiewska) Kopowski, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, February 10, 2023.
Born in Poland, son of the late Jan & Anastazja (Szczawinska) Kopowski, he and his family immigrated to the United States in 1966 and settled in New Britain.
Mieczyslaw was a member of Sacred Heart Church and retired from The Stanley Works after many years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hosting family and friends at his home for many wonderful parties and picnics.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he is survived by his sons: Marion (Debbie) Kopowski and Wesley Kopowski, his daughters, Elizabeth (Duane) Evans, Bernadette (Richard) Mazzoli and Dorothy (Keith) Baum; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mieczyslaw was predeceased by his son, Zbigniew and grandson, Matthew.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at Sacred Heart Church in New Britain. He will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
