Amanda Stead Obituary

Amanda Stead
07/17/2025
Amanda Stead (Ghio) of Warren, CT, made her final journey home peacefully on July 17th, surrounded by family and her beloved cat, Reilly, after a short yet courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 8th, 1962, to Clifford Stead Jr. and Janet Stead (Hamelin) in New Milford, CT, she graduated from New Milford High School in 1979 and from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 with a degree in Textile Design. She went on to use her incredible creativity to create designs for Martha Stewart, and worked in graphic design with her father, Cliff, at his business, Stead Designs, in New Milford, CT. Along with her innate creativity came her love for cooking; her most recent career for the past 10 years was working in the kitchen at Pomperaug Woods, where she took great pride in preparing and serving meals to the residents. In her free time, she would find peace at Lake Waramaug, and loved music of all genres.
Amanda leaves behind her mother, Janet Stead, of Warren, her son Leonardo Stead Ghio, and her daughter-in-law, Kiera McGee, of New Milford, as well as two nephews and six grand-nieces and nephews, and a number of life-long friends. She was preceded in death by her father Clifford Stead Jr., and sister, Jennifer Stead.
A celebration of Amanda's life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Amanda's memory to Whiskers Pet Rescue, 134 Main St. S, Southbury, CT.
