Alice Atkins

Alice Atkins, 92, of Newport, went to be with her lord and savior and other family members on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She attended First Free Will Baptist Church for as long as her health permitted. She was a cook at the Newport Restaurant and Bryant Town Restaurant for many years. Later she was a foster grandparent at Newport Grammar School. She loved the children and got lots of love in return. She is preceded in death by her husband; W.B. Atkins, grandson, Dwayne Valentine, great grandson; Evan Valentine, parents and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters; Bonnie Valentine of Newport and Carolyn Black (Clayton) of Hartford; grandson Jordan Black of Hartford; sister; Alpha Atkins of Bridgeton, NJ and several Nieces and Nephews. The family would like to thank her church family for everything through the years, especially Gerlean Hembree who faithfully picked her up for church. The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, at Manes Funeral Home, with a graveside following at 2:30 in the New Home Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Moore officiating.
