Donald Dockery Obituary
Donald Chester Dockery, age 82 of Dandridge, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Donald was a faithful, charter member of Big Springs Baptist Church since 1964. As a Christian, his faith in God was strong. He was also a Lab Tech at Alcoa Aluminum Company for 39 years.
His favorite hobby was growing gardens where his biggest joy was giving away produce to his friends and community. He was a loving husband, father, and papaw, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was the son of the late Luther and Ruth (Layman) Dockery and was preceded in death by his brother Kemp Dockery; mother and father-in-law, Rupert and Vola (Davis) McGaha; nephew, Kenny Dockery.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Brenda; daughter, Deborah (Tim) Clark; grandchildren, Tyler and Hollie Clark; sisters, Bernice (Ray) White and Anita Trentham; brothers, Dean (Linda) Dockery and Billy (Wilma) Dockery; sister-in law, Diana Dockery; nephews, Farris (Nicole) Dockery, Todd (Amanda) Dockery and Nick White.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Jefferson Park and Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Clark, Rev. Shannon Coleman, and Rev. Jerry Colbert officiating. Pallbearers include Jake Hurst, Conard Frye, Theron Frye, Johnny Henry, Ray White, Nick White, David Galloway, and Jeff Thornton. Graveside service will follow the funeral at Proffitt & Big Springs Church Cemetery.
