Michael Edward Obrist Obituary

Married 54 years, Mike (born November 4, 1952) and Jean (born April 9, 1944) Obrist were always together. Their adventures took them from their home state of New York to Alaska, and finally to East Tennessee. In 1986, the couple established a homestead together in rural Cocke County; where they shared a love for farming, gardening, reading, and birdwatching. When record floodwaters forced the Nolichucky River beyond its banks, the Obrists evacuated together. Shortly thereafter, this precious couple entered the perfect peace of eternity … together.

Left behind to cherish their memory are their children, Mark and Maureen Obrist; Mike's siblings, Mary (Mark) Gregson and Herman (Fely) Obrist; several nieces & nephews; and many of their closest friends.

Per their wishes, Mike and Jean were cremated, with a Celebration of Life to be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the family; as they work to overcome the many difficulties created by the flood.

Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge is honored to serve the Obrist family.
