Cecil Daniels Obituary

WATSEKA – Cecil O. Daniels, 86, of Watseka, passed away Monday, July 14, 2008, at his home in Watseka.

He was born Sunday, May 7, 1922, in Pittwood, to Charles A. and Ina M. Gallaspie Daniels.

He married Lucille Dekle on Jan. 3, 1944, in Rapid City, S.D.; she survives in Watseka.

Mr. Daniels was a member of the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a supervisor for Western Electric for 41 years. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2131 in Clifton, and a member of the Pittwood Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, rockhounding, and traveling.

Surviving Mr. Daniels are four daughters and sons-in-law, Priscilla and William Blind of Chillicothe, Belinda Daniels of Seward, Ark., Dinah Daniels of Archer, Fla., and Deanna Daniels and Erik Rodts of Seattle, Wash.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin and Jane Daniels of Potomac and Jonathan and Linda Daniels of Rantoul; one brother, Russell Daniels of Potomac; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Peters of Watseka; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Sheilah Sorenson and Deborah Daniels; and two sisters, Viola Peters and Mildred Rauen.

Visitation will be held for Mr. Daniels on Friday, July 18, 2008, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka from 4 to 8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tom Novy and Pastor Charles Ballangee officiating. Burial will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery in Watseka; military graveside rites will be performed by Watseka V.F.W. Post 7450 and Watseka American Legion Post 23.

Memorials in Mr. Daniels name may be made to Pittwood Christian Church, Iroquois Memorial Hospice, or to the donor's choice.
