GIBSON CITY – Daniel I. McElfresh, 31, died at 5:28 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2008) in Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City with the Rev. Ed Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday before the service.
He is survived by his mother, Sheila (Wilbur) Kessey of Gibson City; his father, Gary McElfresh of Freetown, Ind.; his son, Zachary McElfresh of Tolono; his maternal grandfather, Byron
(Penny) Whitaker of Marietta, Ga.; his brothers and sisters, Uriah Bukowski of Kissimmee, Fla., Crystal McElfresh, Frankie Ward, Wyatt Ward and Christian Ward, all of Gibson City, Ivy Ward of Jacksonville, Dallas Dennis of Joliet and Wil Keesey of Gibson City.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Merle Smith, an uncle, Randy Whitaker, and an aunt, Schonnie Wallen. Daniel enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music.
He was a history buff and watched all sports. Memorial tributes may be made to the family.

i knew dan for many years, he was a really nice guy. we used to play a game together called the brown horse. rest in peace, old friend.

I remember Daniel as a little boy and as I remember he was the cutest and sweetest boys I had ever seen. I haven't seen him in many years, but have tried to keep up through his dad. My prayers and thoughts go out to all of his family. May he fly on angels wings.
