GRAYSLAKE – John Mudrick, 86, of Grayslake died at 12:24 p.m. Thursday (May 22, 2008).
He was born to Anna Valencik and John Mudrick in Mt. Carmel, Pa., on June 19, 1921.
Survivors include two brothers, Edward Mudrey of Shelton, Conn., and Leonard Mudrick of Naugatuck, Conn.; two nieces, Susan Ross of Athol, Mass., and Pamela Rossi, of Framingham, Mass.
John married Martha Mary (nee Frederick). They have three sons, John D. Mudrick (Lissa May), Michael B. Mudrick and Brian E. Mudrick (Mary Coduti) and three grandsons, Jason Mudrick, Michael Mudrick and Nicholas Mudrick.
John Mudrick served our nation during World War II in the Rome/Arno to Po Valley, Italy, campaigns and was honorably discharged from the 88th Infantry "Blue Devils" Division. Upon release from his military duties, he returned to his position with General Electric.
He graduated from the University of Bridgeport, Conn., with a B.S. in accounting. He was promoted within GE and moved to Louisville, Ky., retiring from GE after 40 years of service.
He was passionate about his roses and loved gardening, fishing and bowling. He enjoyed playing excellent bridge, as well as being an avid reader. While in Kentucky, he volunteered for many years at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fern Creek.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday (May 29, 2008) at the Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, Ill. Mass will follow at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road in Gurnee starting at 11 a.m. Thursday. Immediately following the Mass, entombment will take place at the Warren Cemetery, accompanied by a military honor guard.
Memorial contributions may be made for Mass Intentions or to a charity of the donor's choice.
