Marty Roberts Obituary

MANSFIELD - Marty J. Roberts, 69, of Mansfield, formerly of Tolono, passed away at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at home.

An open house celebration of life will be held Jan. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at 108 E. Main St., Tolono, IL 61880.

Mr. Roberts was born May 6, 1954, in Champaign, to parents Jackie E. and Connie R. Randall Roberts. His mother preceded him in death in 2018.

He is survived by his father, Jackie E. Roberts (Margaret Roe) of Mansfield; and siblings, Kim Blakley of Champaign, Mark Roberts of Reed Hook, N.Y., and Natalie Roberts of Champaign. Also surviving are his nieces, Renee Blakley, Ruby Ballesteros and Iris Ballesteros, all of Champaign.

Marty graduated from Unity High School in 1972, where he played football and basketball under coach Oscar Hicks. He continued to be an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats. Marty enjoyed being in nature around wildlife and had been a recreational hunter and fisherman.

So many memories from high school and riding motor cycles. Several of remiss how we would have won several more games if Marty had not get hurt during the Monticello game. In Florida so will miss celebration of life. Rest in peace Marty.

This is so sad . He was just a Sweetheart.. R Ami Dessen . I met Marty back at the old Alley cat. He would always be leaning up against the jukebox.
