Michael "Mikey" Mackey

2014 - 2024

MAHOMET - Michael "Mikey Wayne" Mackey, 10, from Mahomet, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on March 18, 2014, in Jacksonville, N.C.  The son of Branden Mackey and Tara Kesler Mackey. He is survived by his parents, sister Izzy, grandparents Mike and Karen Kesler, Chris and Vicki Mackey, Janet and Larry Mackey and his service dog Ron Weasley.

Mikey enjoyed watching TV and movies. Some of his favorites were Mickey Mouse, Ellen DeGeneres, Home, The Secret Life of Pets, and videos on his iPad. He spent his days playing with his toys and books, playing ball, eating snacks and lying with his sister and his dog.  Mikey's laugh and smile will be dearly missed. We love you, Mikey.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Palmer and Marline Kesler and honorary great-grandfather Wally Silver.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at Mahomet United Methodist Church, 1302 E. South Mahomet Road, Mahomet, IL 61853 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a service following at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery in Mahomet.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Tara Mackey.  

Funeral arrangements have been made at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1102 Churchill Road, Mahomet, IL 61853.
