Roberta was born on June 24, 1941, in Winkler, Texas, the daughter of Robert Augusta and Naomi Wascher. She married Jerry Hudson on June 2, 1970. Their bond was strong, and it is heartening to know they are now reunited for eternity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, her husband and her son Jami Bickers.
Roberta is survived by a son, Scott Bickers of Urbana; grandson, Tyler (Erin) Bickers of Sidney; granddaughters, Meranda Bickers of St. Joseph, Traci Cokley of Sidney and Alicia Osborne of Zionsville, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Orville (Candy) Hudson of Camargo; and several nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Her pride and joy were her great-grandchildren, Cameron, Meghan, Clayton, Emily, Grace, Isabella, Jocelyn, Donnie, Evelyn and Hudson.
Roberta worked for Carle Foundation Hospital in the records department for 28 years and retired in 2009.
She spent most of her retirement years doing what she loved, following her granddaughter's sports teams, making an abundant amount of Unity afghans, spending time with her family and friends, gardening, canning and eating out. She mostly enjoyed shopping and traveling with her best friend, Sharon, and deeply loved her cat, Muffin. She was a lot of things to many people, but to her family, she was their everything. She will be greatly missed and always loved.
A special acknowledgment goes to Sarah Bush hospital and their dedicated staff for providing exceptional care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Douglas County Humane Society or Tolono Unity softball program.
