Sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was a fountain pen collector, like I was, and we were involved in a local fountain pen collector's group.

Tom and I were colleagues at the U of Illinois Library. He was actually on my search committee so I got to know him early on. He was so passionate about intellectual freedom and also rare books. He worked tirelessly on preserving history through books, some of them controversial. After retirement, we had many fun lunches because his sense of humor never, ever, flagged! Tom, I'll miss you. The library profession misses you as well.
